Comment on: Developers have succeeded in creating an AI to read our subjective thoughts of what makes looks attractive. This system illustrated this knowledge by its capability to produce new images that were found attractive to people.
Fat shaming software?! Nice.

Comment on: This is what 6G could look like
The more the southern states transition to renewable energy, artificially inflate energy costs, and get pushed towards a national grid; the less likely they'll remain independently reliable. I'm referring more at the lack of advancing battery technology. The world has been running off the same concept for the last 50 years. Technology and energy consumption is advancing faster than our ability to harness the power needed to operate most things.

A lot of good that technology will do us if we don't have the power capacity to maintain it.

FunFact: Coincidently the new CISA bill congress is pushing through covers reporting these "attacks". The penalties for any non-governmental entitie's violation of this bill and/or failure to report an "attack" within 24hrs is...get this...0.5% per day of that entitie's gross revenue of the year prior! For reference: in **2015**, an average business with 10 employees could be charged $10,000/day with additional penalties.

Comment on: Peter Thiel predicting Bitcoin in 1999
Like the comments say, he wasn't predicting Bitcoin, he's referring to the evolution to digital currency and tokenization; both of which were the expectations for decades prior to this speech.

Comment on: YouTube will run ads on smaller creators' videos without paying them | Engadget
YouTube's only incentive to treat the creators well, was is the content they recieve. Even after demonetization, channels are still posting heaps of content. If they aren't, there's a list of a million other users that do post content. Larger creators find workarounds to demonetization which makes them stay. It isn't a matter of YouTube sacrificing user incentives; it's the fact that other platforms offer less, if any, incentives. And YouTube retains it's popularity and usage that nobody can compete with yet.

According to Alexa, it's the number 2 ranked site in the world, and receives nearly half of the 4.4bn internet users. It's rate of growth could go into a coma for a year and it would still have a higher user base than any competition out there right now. Yes, other sites are gaining popularity and growth, but they're also getting a lot of shit for their horrendous userface and connectivity. >I didn't imply that there's an exodus >much of the exodus has already happened If you're now implying that there was one, then it stopped, but another one is coming; what did YouTube do to end the previous exodus? I think YouTube will eventually phase out, and users will naturally transition over to something new. But until a similar platform offers a minimum of what YouTube does, you won't see that switch. Ruqqus is a prime example of that. This place wanted to be an alternative to Reddit. Growth may be steady, but Reddit still offers more to it's users. Not to mention, there's a massive chunk of Ruqqies that still actively use Reddit despite their absolute disdain for it.

The popular creators get more money from views than ad revenue. The smaller channels will always hope they'll get as big as the larger ones. Most people will stay, because there isn't another platform that is as popular or user-friendly as YouTube. Not to mention, a lot of channels are pursuing in-video promotions from companies. Bitchute has a terrible interface, no live streaming, and no archives.

I doubt it was their plan. I think they just realized they can rake in ad revenue, and advertising companies can avoid the negative connection to hot topic channels. The Ford F150 can promote their 2022 model on a right-leaning channel if YouTube is the one posting it, and Ford won't be blamed by the offended leftists. YouTube can do this across their platform, make heaps for money, and won't get blamed anymore than they already do.

With all the shit that YouTube has done throughout the years (demonetization, deplatforming, tweeking the algorithms, ect.); monthly active user counts are continually going up. In June 2017 it was 1.5bn, July 2018 was 1.9bn, and May of 2020 2bn. Implying that there's an exodus when the stats don't match dosen't make sense.

Financially, this is a smart decision on theirs and the advertisers part.

Comment on: Why Twitter Stock Crashed 20%
Government just wants more control over everything. They don't give 2 shits when Twitter removes a harmless meme from a senior citizen. However, they do care when their politics aren't being forced upon us all.

Comment on: Why Twitter Stock Crashed 20%
A crash in the stock market refers to a sudden and quick decline or plummeting of value. Jackie performed poorly during the hearing. The crash had nothing to do with a 3 month user dropoff.
