This is all true. I get around it by building shit web apps for small companies. There are downsides to this but: 1) I don't compete with Pajeets 2) I make less but I live in a less expensive area 3) My job is pretty chill

This is exactly the reason I've gotten into programming. At the end of the day, you can't fucking fake it. No amount of posturing or social status can magically make working code appear.

Getting a development for Python set up is not that hard. If you can't do it, programming isn't for you...you're going to encounter many more difficult problems.

I despise Microshit but VS Code is pretty good. I used to use it before I got a key for Sublime3.

I can second working for small companies. More chance of a good job if you can avoid Silicon Valley and/or California altogether.

I had to work my ass off to get where I am, but I work from home, make my own hours, and am a productive badass...the company I'm working for needs me, I've got them by the balls. I honestly can't imagine going back to a real job.
