Books/websites for programming

Hey Voat,

I'm looking for some books/websites to gain a better understanding of programming principles and such, I feel that I am missing a few bits and pieces of it and really want to have a better foundation for the future.

Any suggestions?

I've been using Hacker Rank to pick up the basics of C++. I like it for the simple fact that I can try out something without having to install everything to my computer to see if I can do the basics well enough to invest serious time and energy in one language.
