Worrying trend in the developers world

I see more and more evidence that big companies don't want the best developers anymore but the cheapest. Somehow these managers are convinced that 3 cheap developers = 1 good developer.
The worry is:
- Good developers lose their job because managers think good = expensive.
- Bad developers are now developing software that can kill people in the thousands. Nuclear facility, medical equipment, transport systems, industrial complexes.....

There is never enough time/money to do it right, but always enough to do it twice (or more)
