I absolutely cannot stand the state of our profession, goats. You cannot publicly say anything even mildly offensive. That joke was mild, okay. Most normal people would scroll past it or be momentarily amused. But these psychos brewed up a witch hunt. Absolutely insane.
I have a genuine love of the craft and the work environment is perfect for me (i.e., quiet place with no distractions and little interaction with people outside of my team). So, I'm here to stay... but I have fear for the future, especially considering how much power these tech elites have.
Even if this sick outrage culture doesn't trickle down to the companies that regular people work at, I'm worried there will be wider repercussions. We can already see it happening with de-platforming.
I fully expect to lose a couple jobs in my lifetime due to refusal to play along with the tranny delusion. I made this decision the first time I encountered one, and I'm OK with the consequences.
I say things like "guys" or "yeah dude" when speaking to actual females anyway, so there's no way I won't end up in trouble for this shit on a long enough time scale.
Don't use your own name when making any unprofessional statement online.
Say whatever you want in person. These people don't venture out into the real world, and if someone does start yelling SJW buzzwords at you, you can shut them down easily by pointing out the things they are saying don't make sense then treating them like children if they continue.
Incredibly mild; the only way you can perceive that joke as sexist is if you fundamentally believe that only men enjoy sex; which is itself a rather sexist view.
It strikes me as odd that the same people who preach sexual liberation and women fucking whoever whenever start acting like pearl clutchers the second someone else mentions sex. What the fuck is going on here?
It wasn't offensive at all. It's a mistake to treat these people as if they were at all honest. For them it's all about power and language is just a weapon.
Ahahahahahaha holy fuck that is the most debasing grovelling apology I've ever read for anything ever. I've never seen someone hollow themselves out inside so much just to apologise. And the responses are of course "your apology isn't good enough no apology would be good enough you're scum your kind should no longer exist blah blah blah blah"
As much as I agree that there are some seriously dumb women out there, especially as public speakers in tech, I have to say that there are plenty of women on the side of morality and common sense too. They are just much less visible, since they spend their time working instead of whining on Twitter. Don't count them out.
What they want is to get a Code of Commieduct imposed that will help them take control of the organization and politically purge it. Feigning offense is just a tool that they use because it gets them what they want.
The ideology that social just types and the outraged follow is a puritanical ideology. This is why there are even liberals who are turned off by it, it reminds people of the heavy handed morality that social conservatives have been known for. These things state that their intentions are good, but what shines through is people use these kinds of ideologies for power, control, and a reason to let loose histrionic storms of emotion.
It’s so disgusting that people like her even exist. Like she probably doesn’t even know how to code and we should all go to her twitter and just SHAME her.
If this was a women making this joke she would be laughing not outraged. This is hypocrisy
She's definitely being childish by making a mountain out of a mole hill....usually means it's a scapegoat for something more serious. She either wasn't really prepared to present in the conference (and this is her ticket out of that), or she's been accused of giving "bad sex" too many times but blames everyone else for it....truth hurts.

The organizer's response where he states that there will be a new CoC: https://twitter.com/adamklein500/status/1110568867166851072

His response leaves a lot to be desired. The correct response is to point out what you have but leave it open. How is it sexist?
Then the killshot, how do you know I wasn't talking about gay sex?

It was a mild joke that could at best be interpreted as having an inappropriate theme for a professional environment, but no, it OFFENDS people.

Letting women out of the kitchen was a mistake.
