Am I just expecting too much out of people?

I was asked to send a team a query that an app is using. It is as basic as you can get: SELECT field FROM table where accountNumber = :accountNumber.

Person emails back that they can't execute the query.

I reply telling them that they need to replace :accountNumber with an account number. The account number gets passed in when a user is trying to go to the page that displays the results of this query.

They write back that they wouldn't know where to find an account number that could be used to test.

Uhhh...

A man who can't do this can't call himself a programmer.

But they outnumber us at this moment. However survival of the fittest, we will survive.

Are you joking? I'm long out of the industry, but I didn't think it was this bad.

Didn't you notice the crappy web sites, the failing OS updates, coffee vending machines that sucks,.... Air planes that drop from the skies ?

Couldn't see the Forrest for the trees. >It's happening!

But the older generation are still there, just low profile waiting until all projects fail and then they will save it. But it is still a few years from now,.

Old labor? Their brains are too gone. The management level is a horror now too. Publicly traded companies are total shit shows.

Oh their brains are not gone, they just lay low profile because they are top of the food-chain and know when to fight and when to have a low profile.

If you are that old and still be a developer, then it means that you are a survivalist.

But the companies that need us old timers the most see us as "too expensive" and "doesn't work well in teams" to bring us on. They would rather just hire more useless pajeet consultants and try to work around their SJW/diversity hire dumbasses so they can keep on virtue signalling themselves into oblivion. I won't touch any place that uses Agile or some other stupid time wasting methodology. I'd rather just watch these train wrecks unfold and keep laughing as I do my work the way I want to do it.

Manager who was a senior developer. Asian female.

For real? As in really and truly? There are amazing anecdotes of gender hire females in management who cannot code at all, and some stories are on youtube, but I would have thought an asian would at least have skillz.

What a worthless cretin she must have been.

Maybe they don't know SQL, neither the language or how to interface with DB... But it sounds like they couldn't do mock testing either.

So, she couldn't even figure out something like:

SELECT TOP 1 * FROM table ORDER BY NEWID()

Modern Masters Degree in STEM. I deal with the same issue at my work. I have people that graduated with Masters in Electronic Engineering and can’t put two resistors together. But holy shit they demand washroom for 7000+ genders lol. Welcome to modern education. Universities turned to expensive daycare centres, creating morons of the lowest IQ.

I can't tell you how many people have failed to achieve their goals because their FTP client or their mail client can't connect to example.com

Nah, you just got stuck with diversity hires

We just "merged" (more like takeover) with these fuckers last year. We're now a top 10 sized company for our industry, and before the merger they still did most things with pen and paper. Help.

Now working with a developer that has 4 years experience explaining that you can use StringUtils.isNotBlank(aString) to check for empty or null strings. Guess the gender :|
