I play on pc too and I’ve tried saying one word and people telling me to instantly shut up because my voice is making them horny. I’ve tried 30 year olds tellling me I sound really sexy asking me to call them daddy. I’ve had people continuously try to hit on me and make extremely sexual jokes just making me more and more uncomfortable. There is so fucking much sexual harassment in Overwatch

Overwatch is where I got it..... Overwatch voicechat is one of the worst ones I’ve ever experienced. I don’t use voice chat but my username is female so they just keep coming. I already used my free change thing.
And when that happened I had a hard time
trusting people and talking to new people.

As a I said it happens in most media and in especially in games it’s not a big of a problem anymore. I think gaming plays a part in it in the way that guys think they can talk to girls. I couldn’t play any games after I was raped because guys would keep telling me that They hope I get raped and it would just make me instantly break down. Gaming was my escape but I couldn’t use that tool because of fucked up people.

It leads to a kind of fucked women and male view for a lot of people in gaming.
I’ve seen it with girls where they think a man can only be attractive when he’s got huge muscles and is very stereotypically masculine and I’ve seen the same with dudes.
For a lot of people that are maybe not the most social it also creates problems with what they perceive as normal and ok when talking to other people.
Leads to a lot of sexual harassment online, which most say is “just a joke” but that doesn’t make it ok when you’re sitting with complete strangers
When I say over sexualisation I think there is a lot of different ways. It can be a game where all the guys a huge and buff with massive bulges for no storyline reasons and where girls are given massive tits/weird armour that just doesn’t make any sense.
The worst with over sexualisation is with female characters having no other purpose than being a love interest(this is mostly in books though) they get no other growth as a character.
This a lot of the time irl leads to people not thinking that the other gender has a mind of their own. That someone automatically owes you something for no apparent reason.
This happens in most media and it isn’t as bad as it was a couple years ago. I just don’t think it means it isn’t a problem
