I don't consider that an innovation. At best it's marginal improvement.

Comment on: Windows 10 Control Panel gets another nail in its coffin
I feel like one more iteration from Win 7 with the legacy UI would have been the perfect OS. Alas, as you say, they got caught up in the artsy-fartsy UX crap and more specifically stupidly believed they could adapt Windows for mobile devices and touch screens. No...just no.

Comment on: Windows 10 Control Panel gets another nail in its coffin
IIRC Control Panel was still fully functioning in Win 7. I really wish they would have split Win 7 and Win 8 and left Win 7 for enterprise/business use. All they needed to do with Win 7 was add in a tabbed Windows Explorer and it would be the perfect OS.

Comment on: Uber Will 'Shut Down' in California If It Must Classify Drivers as Employees
I think we should ask the more fundamental question of whether every time someone makes money they should be labelled an
"employee" or whether we think there are other arrangements, commonly referred to as "independent contracting" that should exist under the right circumstances.

Comment on: Uber Will 'Shut Down' in California If It Must Classify Drivers as Employees
Except these are not employees by any sensible legal definition. They have no set schedule. They use their own vehicle. They have virtually no requirements placed on them.
Uber provides an app where you can choose to offer rides or receive rides. That's about it.

And you think this ruling won't apply to these companies why exactly? Best case these companies stay but the rates go way up.
