The two other responses are both in favor of supporting Ukraine. They’re only smaller because the poll isn’t asking if people support Ukraine or not. The question splits the answers.

Nord Stream 2 still wasn’t operational when the attack happened. For some reason shortly after construction completed Europeans didn’t want as much natural gas from Russia

And a ton think we’re doing enough too. So most Americans do want to spend thousands of dollars

And we should be proud of that fact. Not using it as an excuse to not help.

Okay. But they also could have like, raised taxes on the ultra rich by like 2% and done that too. Why is the answer fuck over Ukraine?

Wait are you referring to Nord Steam? As the perpetrator is still unknown for that. In fact the USA WARNED of possible sabotage weeks before hand. But if you’re going to commit a false flag attack it makes sense to warn the people you’re hitting well in advance right? As for when it’s come back to bite us. I mean the entire point of USA foreign policy in the 2010s was the appeasement of Putin in order to keep him from doing exactly what he is currently doing. And of course appeasing hitler worked out historically so well. Although I guess it was better than the Russians, who were allied with him

It literally does help. It provides jobs and keeps smart people in this country preventing brain drain. People use the military industrial complex as a boogy man as something they can say without actually needing to explain why it’s bad. We are in the most peaceful time in word history. Even with the war in Ukraine. And no small part of that is the USA willing to keep world peace. And being able to back those desires up

We used to stay out of these kinds of conflicts. Pearl Harbor was not a fun time though. Capitulation to dictators and strongmen ultimately comes back to bite the USA. And helping people defend their homeland from invasion is morally the right thing to do. Beyond that my point was that we’re not just throwing away this money. It does go back into our economy. Whether you like where it comes from or not is besides the point

Sorry that was typed misleadingly. I was referring to this round of aid. And I don’t count humanitarian aid as I would consider preventing a mass famine or other humanitarian disaster a pretty high priority and something that would be happening anyway regardless of reason. The money we have sent Ukraine is still a tiny part of our gdp and not enough to provide free healthcare. Pretending like free healthcare is due to defending democracy and not from people voting against free healthcare is just shifting blame

We were going to replace them anyway. Most of the equipment being sent it near the end of its shelf life or obsolete. And again you’re ignoring how tiny of an investment it is relative to our budget to basically completely fuck over one of our main rivals. As well as to defend a democracy from an autocracy

I think that there is a genuine question about what will happen to drug development costs if the USA gets government healthcare. But I think the solution is more international coalition than no socialist health care

The money is better spent helping to spread American influence. We’re basically fucking over one of our top geopolitical rivals with no Americans killed. And for dirt fucking cheap as far as wars go. Pretty good deal all things considered

The USA budget is over 2 trillion dollars this year. Of that 50 billion being sent to Ukraine. The vast majority is either arms we were just storing or money being put back into the United States economy. Only 50 million is just straight up cash. Assuming that the USAs budget for universal health care was similar to other countries. About 3000$ a person, universal healthcare would cost a bit over 1 trillion dollars. About 40 times the total aid being sent to Ukraine

Comment on: I’m literally a registered libertarian and yet r/libertarian banned me for saying that trump is a threat to democracy.
They’re trying to put him in prison for breaking the law. If he is truly innocent let him be judged so by a jury of his peers
