The one caveat I'll add is that my understanding is the switch to PoS will be gradual, the ETH1 chain will live on and still require mining, while it is gradually absorbed into an ETH2 ecosystem. Services will have to make the jump to ETH2 and that's not all going to happen overnight. But the trick is whether the current bull run of crypto prices will hold as well. If it does, that will likely accelerate ETH2 adoption to avoid the high gas prices.

Proof of stake is coming soon anyway, I'm not sure I'd be investing in new graphics cards now, might be tough to get return on investment in time.

That might be a chicken-and-egg problem. No one's going to build motherboards for a CPU that isn't accessible. If Apple put the chip up for sale, I bet someone would make a motherboard for it. FWIW, these would probably target niche/high-end configurations rather than trying to compete with Apple's volume on the low end of the lineup.

This is why the cabal of super mods suck, because a handful of them can pull off a list like this and make it seem like a much more organic thing than it is.
