It can be. You need to have a very attractive resume to get hired in your 40s. A lot of companies seem to want younger programmers. I don't think it's ageism per se. Younger kids don't know as much about the industry, are a bit easier to screw over and are less likely to have families to distract them.
Very thorough article. In the back of my mind I always want the BBC to be at a higher standard for journalism. Unfortunately they are MSM just like everyone else.
