This is an old post, but my god you put it so clearly what I am been saying for ages. I mean even now I always feel a rather odd, sort of "tension in the air" when I see some subs...the point about unwritten "rules" and planning on IRC is absolutely accurate. I have been to the channels a few times, and they dont even try to hide it.
