Comment on: Using Python to Code by Voice

I'm not sure, the guy giving the presentation continues to use it even after his recovery.

I posted it mainly because a friend of mine sent it to me, as he was as impressed as I was at what this guy had accomplished. Also Python :)

Comment on: Is it possible to make my own private cloud server?

ownCloud is PHP based, so you need the usual "LAMP" stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) there are packages available for a wide variety of distros which should install everything you need on a base system such as Debian or Ubuntu Server.

The ownCloud install documentation is good, if you're reasonably comfortable with Linux you shouldn't have much of a problem. If not then you may be able to find a "click-and-go" kind of distro like ClearOS that has an ownCloud package, but it seems like ClearOS make you pay for it :(

Comment on: Where should I migrate my projects to (from Github)?

If you have the time to do it, and you're happy to secure it, this idea is by far the best.

Comment on: Why the Open Code of Conduct Isnt for Me

While I generally agree with the sentiment of your comment, I think gender specific groups can be a good thing. Coding and suchlike is very much a male dominated field, and if we can give some extra support to encourage the fairer sex to get involved and make them feel welcome and more comfortable joining such a scene, that's gotta be a good thing.

Take Django Girls for instance. Just from looking at their site for a few minutes, the photos seem to show that it's not strictly a "male free zone" and their events seem to be part of larger Python related ones. They contribute tutorials, blogs, set up classes, and promote the Django platform.

I think I get the point you were making, but let's be careful not to lump these rabid feminazis that contribute nothing useful with genuine groups that benefit the wider community. And you're dead right about confrontations sometimes being necessary. Anyone who's read the Debian or Linux Kernel mailing lists should realise that :)

I agree completely, this bullshit mentality is systematically attempting to infect a whole spectrum of communities, and never achieves anything worthwhile. FreeBSD was another notable victim just recently, a project worthy of far greater respect that's been going longer than most of these SJW morons have been alive. Of all the causes to fight, there are so many worthy ones, poverty, corruption, war ... But no, let's hear all about how these bunch of crybabies want to smother the world in cotton wool because "meh fee fees".

Particularly with regard to GitHub, but not exclusively, nobody needs a community more talented at being offended than shutting the fuck up while they let their code do the talking. The Jonathan Riddell (Kubuntu) incident was another example of this. A talented man removed from his position because (TL;DR) bullshit politics and "fee fees".
