It's literally an option in settings... But it's broken on the browser extension, I want both desktop and browser extension to lock only when the system goes to sleep. But for some reason, the extension locks when I close my web browser. But to be clear, I think you can set it to your requirements.

Comment on: Twitter announces paid Super Follows to let you charge for tweets
Wtf? Does Twitter allow porn? What tweets, exactly, would someone pay to access? Do people think there are flavors of “put all rethuglicans in jail” that are clever enough to pay a premium for? Am I confused, or is Twitter confused? It’s got to be one of us.

Comment on: Reddit removed privacy OptOut settings "to reduce confusion"
A lot of people rely on virtual interactions for social fulfillment, especially in the covid world. Most websites have rules to restrict what you're allowed to say and people who are socially starved are willing to squelch their personalities in order to have a little social interaction. I was like this for a few years when having young children without friends who had young children was isolating. Reddit has nothing on censorship compared to some of the mommy boards out there.

Sounds a little like gambling with extra steps. It also sounds like some thing the leagues won’t like. If it focuses on treating players like gacha collectibles, it will further reduce the dedication to teams in favor of dedication to players, which is not good for the teams. Interesting from a business standpoint, less so from a technology and sports standpoint.

This definitely strikes me as a way to convince boomers to install the latest os version, still completely unneeded and intrusive though. Tbh if it wasn't for these pop ups and the potential for 2-3 more years of security updates i'd have stayed on android 8.0 since later ui changes seem like a downgrade

I've been complaining about this crap for the better part of a decade... longer probably no matter how much i yell at devs no one listens. I gave up front end design in the 2000's.. back when you had to assume people where still on a 33.6k connection. the front page with a back ground image that just says "Company name - slogan" and you have to scroll below the fold to get any content, and those auto loading corner videos piss me off too. I have a GB connection. I block whole sites that do this. FanSided (sports blogging platform) for example Props to Luke for helping spread the word.

Comment on: Self-driving companies are inching toward fully driverless service
It will take at least another decade for self-driving cars to mature, if not much longer than that. This is still nothing more but a limited scope PoC. A trial in a city in a desert where the weather is fairly stable with no snow, operation hours limited to daytime etc. is nice. Let me know when it can drive itself from one coast to the other, handle all-year-round weather, conditions from urban to highway and do all of that at least as safe as humans, if not better. Until then it's just a PoC.

Comment on: Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger slams site's leftist bias and claims 'neutrality' is gone
The left have a single big advantage in that they are over-represented in academia and information technology. I would say that they dominate on the internet because they are smelly, sedentary ne'er-do-wells while the right tend to be out in the real world actually doing things but perhaps that's unfair. But anyway this is at the core of what they do-control language and opinion, to alter reality to their satisfaction. The over-focus on fascism and Nazism and the glossing over of e.g. Soviet genocide has become so endemic now it's as if history has been actually rewritten.
