Comment on: When was the point you said to yourself: "I am a Senior Programmer" or "Expert at X language?"
That reminds me of when I worked for FactSet....Never again.

3-4 years!? Every job I've had I've been able to be a major contributor in under 10 months. Every job I get that time line drops by about a month. Right now I've been at a job for 8 months and I feel more than capable to contribute, breakdown and rewrite the entire application from scratch.
Right now I am refactoring HUGE swaths of code because it was written in 2010 and they didnt use an ODM (it's a low volume site 1,000/day vs hour) and they used a stupidly crazy loading scheme that is spaghetti code.
Comment on: Hardest/craziest bug anecdotes?
If it's intermittent and unpredictable its always a race condition.

At one company I worked for we asked this during a job interview: Can you describe a Java Interface? People who rated themselves as an 8-9 would say "Like a GUI?"

I was wondering why this seemed familiar and then i saw The Pragmatic Programmer on my desk.
How does one jump to the heights of expert?
I feel like I am in a blur of the tail end of Advanced Beginner, Competent and Proficient.
sometimes I just want the API to just work other times I need to step back and understand how the big picture looks in order to get it to work. (Like understanding the authorization model) And often I apply "Maxims" such as, You always want to prevent your user from doing something stupid when you design a GUI. Want them to be unable to edit a field? Dont even render it. What if they hack into the code and make it visible? Make sure your server rejects any changes they make.
not at all. I understand how it bothers other people, I just think its retarded to complain about a free service someone is offering you.
