Comment on: Ask Programming: if you ever got burnt out in this job or hobby, how did you get back into it?

For my particular case, I think this nails it. I wish I would have actively sought to get out sooner. Now I think my prolonged, and so far hidden burnout may end up negatively impacting everyone else in the longer run. And that guilt only adds to my stress.

Comment on: Trigger input event automatically on value changed with code

I wish PHP had property getters and setters instead of the "magical do-it-all" __get() and __set(). You're stuck with a massive switch block pivoting on the passed-in property name. Not to mention validating the given property name exists. It's ridiculous.

Comment on: Why can't programmers... Program?

Well if you don't have 5 years experience in the obscure 3rd party framework the previous dev chose for the project because we gave them too much creative leeway and now regret it but can't go back, you probably aren't a good fit for this position.

Comment on: GitHub's new far-left code of conduct explicitly says "we will not act on reverse racism' or 'reverse sexism'"

It has to do with something called "Open Code of Conduct" which Github has adopted.

Comment on: Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-078 [critical font vulnerability for just about every system supported by MS]

Was the issue about MS arbitrarily installing new random SSL root authorities in recent updates been resolved? If not, can't really recommend updating all the patches blindly. But probably at least this one.

Comment on: All decisions have consequences, but how did MS break OpenType fonts in such a way that it allows creation of an elevated user?

I'm surprised an MS response or fix hasn't been posted yet in /v/programming. So I posted it.

I just love how fonts are still a real security vulnerability to this day.
