Visual Studio Code if you want something that isn't super hardcore.

Emacs if you do. I use them both, on both my windows and linux installations.

There's a large enough group of people who are really, really sick of this shit for it to not really catch that much steam.

Linux will never get a CoC, and as long as Linux remains the postcard 'open source software' it won't be able to snowball.

This is a natural (if a bit saddening) result of the major shift that occurred around 2007, when the internet stopped emphasizing privacy and anonymity and started being treated as an extension of one's real personal life.

It's a dangerous way to live, because you're basically walking into somebody else's house and demanding that they live their life the way you do.
