(I'm trying to revive Tcl)

Javascript is underrated.
Tcl sucks least among scripting langs.
Comment on: Why PostgreSQL is the coolest database: The License
Sqlite is cool too. Tcl is very cool.
Comment on: Scriptometer: measuring the ease of SOP (Script-Oriented Programming) of programming languages
Im with you on shell can do most scripty things. Tcl seems like a step above and below shell. I agree general purpose high level scripting languges are not tje best at anything, but Tcl because of its support for C and playability with shell seems like a low level general purpose scripting lang. Im thinking a C-tcl-julia stack is where i want to go for data science, systems mgt, prototyping, and iot. Lua seems like a more powerful low-level scripter, but im not doing low level dev outside of C/circuits, where tcl shines. If the worst part of tcl is its lack of modern maintenace, I do see since many have stopped using it, it got OO and arrays recently. It seems like its the best old and overlooked langauge that is probably already on my router, atm, smartfridge, etc. If it had a stats package, id be certain I was uncovering a spaceship.

What yall think about tcl/tk? Seems good for iot and personal system mgmt..
Comment on: How to Start Using the Terminal to Be More Productive
Coursera has a MOOC called "The Unix Workbench" by Johns Hopkins Uni that is pretty solid and looks good on a resume.
Comment on: decided I had to start somewhere
OMG that would have been so much better and probably more offensive.
We know what we must do.

Comment on: Who says girls can't code?
Not to mention she built a table with embedded styles. Only dreamweaver and moronic newbs would write html like that

Comment on: #LearnToCode? NO! #DontLearnToCode - No Need for Opportunistic Journalist Has-Been Ruining That Too!
sjw's have already infiltrated tech, and have tried their best to ruin it. Fortunately there is still a skill based market, and sjw's generally arent analytical
Comment on: Should Journalism Schools Require Reporters to #'LearnCode'? No
Writers need publicists, unless they can code
And any journalists who knowingly pushes propaganda should be boycotted until they get another career
Comment on: Live footage of the Paris Yellow Vests Protest
Is it morphing into pointless antifa-style rage? The crowds seem to be getting younger, darker, and more destructive.
Do they have a list of demands?
Comment on: The Rise and Fall of Java [10 minute video]
10 minutes? I can do 10 words:
Run anywhere, Rise with Sun. Oracle cast a death spell.
Comment on: Learning to program to achieve something (Serious)
Take the first 5 lessons in java and python from codeacademy (will take 1 hour total). Make a website (basic, like your resume). Make an simple android app (like tic tac toe). By the time you're done, youll feel like 18 y/o Bill Gates, ready to take on the world. You can do this in a week in your spare time.
Comment on: I have a problem with some Java code
If your description is accurate, it fails when point1 =5 before the statement starts as you're adding to point1 when it matches the conditional, and if youre expecting 5, the conditional only works when point1 starts as 0.
And you can get rid of x==z, as many have said.
Comment on: Google AMP Can Go To Hell
AMP is stupid when compared to a simple unbloated traditional webpage. Unless you're Google and you want to take over the web.
Btw quit Google. No Chrome. No Google search. And get off Android asap.

Get out of your bubble, learn everything.
Comment on: TempleOS with its holyC programming language has the potential to replace the behemoth OS's we use today.
Not nearly as parsimonious as TempleOS
Comment on: Do I need to pay for Java now?
Fuck Oracle. I'll never start a project with a commercial language

Comment on: How difficult is it to create a search engine?
not that hard. there are a lot of search engines out there. you need to maintain, which means fund. the more popular it is, the more expensive it gets.
need self funding model. maybe open source but programmer/admin hours entitles you to ad profit.
searching the entire internet has always been a bit of a misnomer. and specialist search engines perform better.

Comment on: Anybody own a Raspberry Pi? Care to share any cool projects you've done on it?
i want to build a machine that will lock my hubs on my 4WD truck from the cab via remote control. That way I dont have to get out of the cab in a sticky situation to engage 4WD.
Havent done it, but one of the simple, open source machines I feel will have an audience of at least 1000 that feels my pain and would appreciate the solution.
